Clark Contracts has officially commenced work on a new £20 million purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development at Jock’s Lodge in Edinburgh. The project is being delivered for student housing specialist Alumno and global real estate investor Henderson Park.

Development Profile

The new residence, located in the Meadowbank area, will provide 191 beds in a mix of cluster apartments (featuring shared kitchens) and self-contained studios.

Beyond living quarters, the scheme is designed to be a high-amenity hub, featuring:

  • Social & Study Spaces: Dedicated zones for academic work and resident interaction.

  • Outdoor Amenities: Landscaped courtyards and rooftop gardens with views across the city.

  • Public Use: A ground-floor café/restaurant fronting London Road.

Milestone and Timeline

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 5, 2026, to mark the official start on-site. The project is scheduled for completion in Summer 2027, ensuring the beds are available for the start of the 2027/28 academic year.

This contract marks the second recent collaboration between Clark Contracts, Alumno, and Henderson Park, following a similar project break-ground in Glasgow last month.

“Building on our experience of delivering more than 1,400 student beds in recent years, this project marks our second collaboration with Alumno and Henderson Park. We’re excited to continue working together to bring the development forward and see it progress on site.” — Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts
