AFC Bournemouth has officially appointed Stadium Structures as its preconstruction partner for the ambitious expansion of the Vitality Stadium. The project aims to nearly double the current capacity, bringing the Premier League ground to over 20,000 seats.

The appointment follows a successful period of collaboration between the club and the contractor, who have spent several months working together on various hospitality refurbishments. Stadium Structures will now take the lead on design and construction planning for the wider redevelopment.

Key Project Details

According to data from Glenigan, the total investment for the scheme is estimated at £85 million. The project is designed to be phased, allowing the club to maintain operations while work progresses.

  • Current Capacity: 11,286

  • Target Capacity: 20,000+

  • Initial Phase: Enabling works

  • Estimated Value: £85 million

Minimizing Matchday Disruption

Stadium Structures has confirmed it will utilize its standard construction methods to minimize disruption to supporters during the build. The project aims to balance modern capacity needs with the ground’s existing heritage, focusing on:

  • Improving the overall matchday experience.

  • Phased construction to ensure safety and access.

  • Upgrading infrastructure to support the increased headcount.

Planning and Timeline

While Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council granted initial planning approval in January, the club noted that the scheme remains subject to further permissions.

A more comprehensive planning application is currently in the consultation stage. This is expected to be reviewed by the council’s planning committee in early May 2026.

“The hard work starts now,” a spokesperson for Stadium Structures commented following the announcement.
